“AI + Green Energy”: Westwell Facilitates Intelligent and Green Evolution of Global Container Logistics

November 14 14:09 2023

With the theme of “Intelligent Belt and Road, Green Future”, Westwell, a global leader in green energy autonomous driving, presented the innovative solutions of “AI + Green Energy” at the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) held in Shanghai to showcase the competitive solutions in the field of intelligent autonomous driving, efficiently empower its clients, and promote green and intelligent evolution of global container logistics.

In light of the global future trends of “green energy and intelligence”, Westwell has proposed the global initiative of “Ainergy your way”, namely, “AI + Green Energy”.  Leveraging the technological advantages in AI and autonomous driving, along with robust ecosystem within the industry chain, Westwell has continuously iterated the products and services and rolled out Qomolo, a comprehensive operational solution that encompasses complete vehicles, piloting systems, and V2X infrastructures.Qomolo will help the global container logistics industry move forward in a safer, more efficient and greener way.

Spearheading autonomous driving with smart and green operation

As the global focus is on “efficiency, cost, safety and carbon emission reduction”,  Westwell has developed an ecological solution that consist of “autonomous driving vehicles + battery-swapping infrastructures”, effectively addressing the pain points of insufficient transport capacity resulting from technical bottleneck. Technical innovations have unlimited potential for commercial value.

Qomolo Q-Truck completely removes the driver cabin, creating an imaginative heavy-duty truck for the future. As the only autonomous truck brand, it had appeared in the famous Chinese sci-fi movie The Wandering Earth II and crossed “unpeopled land” by virtue of technology. Q-truck is the first globally intelligent battery swapping heavy truck developed by Westwell. It is mainly applied to container logistics closed scenarios, including sea ports and land ports.

Equipped with PowerOnair, Westwell’s self-developed smart energy service, the Q-Truck is able to recharge autonomously in just 5 minutes for efficient, round-the-clock operations, with 75 tons of maximum load capacity and 150 km of full-load mileage. Moreover, in the case of using completely green energy, the Q-Truck is projected to cut CO2 emissions by 50 tons per vehicle each year, making a contribute to environmental protection.

Westwell’s upgrade for the global market – the Q-Truck with intelligent power switching – is equipped with a new generation of integrated sensing architecture. It is equipped with an industrial-grade, long-range, high-precision binocular AI camera, LiDAR, and a multitude of other sensors. The powerful perception, highly precise positioning, decision-making, and rule control capabilities come from its AI intelligent algorithm that integrates a full-stack autonomous driving system. With WellFMS (Fleet Managment System) developed independently by Westwell, Q-Truck can efficiently accomplish workflow management, path planning, etc.

Based on the market demand, and suitable for more scenarios

To expand application scenarios to airports, industrial parks, logistics centers and the like, Westwell has developed the green energy autonomous driving tractor Qomolo Q-Tractor based on Q-Pilot, Multi-Road Condition Intelligent Driving System Platform, which is mainly applied to small cargo transportation and luggage hauling in the field of logistics transportation. Westwell’s green and intelligent solution in this regard can achieve “net zero carbon emission throughout the process”  in scenarios.

Unlike conventional tractors, Q-Tractor adopts multi-sensor fusion technology, offering advanced autonomous driving skills and 360° precision perception. It exhibits situational thinking based on the operational status of different environments, possessing the ability to self-learn and iterate upgrades. This versatility allows it to flexibly switch between “manned” and “autonomous” driving modes.

Also, it can work together with WellFMS (The Fleet Managment System) and WellSIM (The Simulation Platform) to bring about excellent human-machine interaction experience. While assisting clients in efficient operation and management, Westwell also provides multiple solid safety guarantees, as well as life-cycle maintenance for vehicles.

Leading global green and intelligent innovation

Westwell has taken the lead in building the closed loop of “global products + commercialization + local support”, becoming the rare company in the industry with the ability to “deliver globally”. The green energy autonomous innovative solutions have currently served more than 160 clients in 18 countries and regions across the world, including Thailand, UAE, UK, Malaysia, Mexico, and South Korea.

To meet the diverse needs of our global customers, Westwell continues to bolster efforts in product research and development, technology patents and talent building. Recently, its innovative technologies have been honored by the WIPO 2023 Global Awards, the highest award in the world’s intellectual property field, while being included into the WIPO Green Database for their performance in green technology. This will futher motivate Westwell to enhance its focus on the global innovation, R&D, and commercial application of intelligent and green technologies, in pursuit of the admirable vision “From Human to Human”.

Guide by the “green mission”, Westwell is dedicated to research and develop advanced autonomous driving technologies and solutions. It aims to expedite the eco-friendly and intelligent transition of global container logistics by forging close partnerships with ecological allies worldwide.
